Human bloodshed is considered murder. It includes killing of anything that contains human life however described or the method used. Bloodshed includes abortion; euthanasia; killing by any method or means. Bloodshed could be committed directly or indirectly. Blood is the vehicle of life and speaks even after death. Blood embodies the immortal spirit of God. Exterminating life without God’s instructions is a grievous sin.

God’s covenant with us is through blood, Matthew 27:4; Mark 14:24. By the blood of Jesus, sin was propitiated, and forgiven, Romans 3:25; Colossians 1:20. In Genesis 4:10-12 God said Abel’s blood was crying following Cain’s murder. The blood of murdered people irrespective of time, place and circumstances cry to God. The cry of a murdered soul invokes God’s revenge because it is sacred. This means the sin of bloodshed which is murder cannot be hidden from God.

Romans 3:5 says that but if our wickedness serves to show the justice of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? Exodus 20:13 says, thou shall not kill. In Romans 13:5 we read that, one must be subject, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. Indeed sin has no reward but punishment and eternal damnation. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death. Also, we cannot deceive or mock God, Galatians 6:7

God’s mercy

Although Cain wished for death after murdering his brother Abel, God preserved his life from death in Genesis 4:15-16. God does not delight in the death of a sinner. Jesus said he has not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance, Luke 5:32. God is slow to anger but abound in his steadfast love, Numbers 14:18; Exodus 34:6. The Lord is not slow to punish for sin but forbearing towards man, 2 Peter 3:9. God’s grace abounds for our repentance so let us not continue to sin, Romans 6:1

David admitted his sin and confessed of bloodshed in Psalms 51:14. The murderer on the cross repented and received instant salvation, Luke 23:41-43. When we sin, we must run to God, not away from God else we will be fugitives or wanderers. Jesus says in Mathew 11:28 that come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

If we do not heed this call, we will eventually commit suicide or murder ourselves as Judas Iscariot did, Matthew 27:7-10. We will die a painful death just as the thief on the cross suffered in John 19:32. The convenience of social, political, religious or economic rights cannot excuse, defend or assuage the sacredness of human life and neither can the statute of any circular world save us.

Always remember that there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death, Proverbs 14:12.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, we repent of our sins of bloodshed, murder, and failure to acknowledge our sins. We confess our inadequacies and shortcomings. Wash us in your immaculate blood and save our souls today. In your precious name we pray. Amen!!!
