God’s creation works are a mystery. The oft question asked is, where was God when he created the world? This is because the human mind cannot comprehend it. Based on human wisdom and logic, many have departed from God. Hosea 4: 6 says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. We read also from 1 Corinthians 3: 19 for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2: 13-14, we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual. Those who are unspiritual do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. Some of God’s mystic works in creation are as follows:

God exist before creation

David said in Psalms 90: 2, before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. God’s location before creation is however not biblically known. Such mystery adds to God’s awesomeness as the mystic God of creation.

It is important to note that before the world existed or its foundation was formed, Christ existed in God the Father, John 17: 5, 24. Because Christ Jesus was in existence before creation, God created the world through Christ Jesus, Hebrews 1: 2. Jesus’ death was also destined before the foundation of the world, 1 Peter 1:20.  This makes God a mystic God.

Who created the world?

Scripture deals extensively with this subject. Isaiah 44: 24 says thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by myself spread out the earth. In God’s personal testimony, he also created humankind upon it, and commanded all their hosts, Isaiah 45: 12, 18. God’s creation is also stated in Genesis 1: 1.

God created the world by his word. We read from 2 Peter 3: 5-6, they deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and an earth was formed out of water and by means of water through which the world of that time was deluged with water and perished. God is described as worthy to receive glory and honour and power as creator of all things and by whose will they existed and were created, Revelation 4: 11. God created the world by his word in mystery.

Who created the things in the world?

It has been alleged that humans and others came into being by an accident. We differ and say that we were created by God for his purpose. In Christ all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers were created, Colossians 1: 16

God created all things for his glory, Isaiah 43: 7. God created mankind in his image, Genesis 2: 7. Our purpose for existing is for good works, Ephesians 2: 10. We were therefore specially made both by a word as other things were commanded into existence. Psalms 139: 13 says you (God) knit me together in my mother’s womb. God created Israel as the tribe of his inheritance, Jeremiah 10: 16. It is final and sealed.

Who manages the world?

God is in charge of his creation. He controls the moon, the sun, the seasons and all creation, Psalms 104: 19-20. David said in Psalms 139: 16,27 your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed… These all look to you (God) to give them their food in due season. God knows our end from the beginning.

Daniel 2: 21-22 says he (God) changes times and seasons, disposes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him. Because God is in charge, Isaiah 40: 26 says not one is missing from his creation (paraphrased).

God will end the world one day

God will bring an end to the world one day, Matthew 24: 14. However no one knows the day or hour except him, Matthew 24: 36; Mark 13: 32. Peter said in 2 Peter 3: 10 but the day of the Lord will come like a thief,… and everything that is done on it will be disclosed. Songs of Solomon 6: 10 says, who is this that looks forth like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army with banners?

It is written in Ecclesiastes 3: 11, he (God) has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Our knowledge cannot disclose the future except by the Holy Spirit.

At the close of the age, God will demand accountability from each of us. Nothing will escape God’s knowledge. Psalms 94: 9 says he who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see? In confirmation Job 28: 24 says for he (God) looks to the ends of the earth, and sees everything under the heavens. Who can explain how mystic our God is?

God’s mystery of salvation

God will judge us according to our ways, Ezekiel 7: 8, 27; 24: 14. Therefore Ezekiel 18: 30 says repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin. Acts 4: 12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved. Jesus is the only way to the Father and all things that were made through him and in his name.

Job 5: 20 said, in famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. God promised in Isaiah 49: 26, I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. The nature of God’s redemption is a mystery. David asked for a new heart, Psalms 51: 10. What have we asked from the mystic God?

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, David asked for a new heart by which to please you and to serve you in spirit and in truth. We ask for humble and obedient hearts by which we will obey your will and purpose for our lives. weave us anew that in the newness of life, we may reflect your glory always. May your mystic nature help us to bear fruits that befit repentance in your holy name, Amen!!
