In our choice of what we may inherit, we could go wrong. However, when God makes the choice for us, we are sure to get it right because God is perfect. Deuteronomy 32: 4 says the Rock, his work is perfect, and all his ways are just. 2Samuel 22: 31; Psalms 18: 30 says, this God his way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him. To have the best of heritage or inheritance, God has already made the choice for us.

Psalms 47: 4 says he chose our heritage for us, and the pride of Jacob whom he loves. When we give God the chance to love us, our heritage will be awesome as he did for Jacob. God created and owns all things visible and invisible, hence he knows the best for us rather than our faulty choices. Our heritage is God’s will for us. Ephesians 2: 10 says for we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life. We must not reject this heritage.

What are some of the heritage?

God’s choice of heritage for us is expanse, which includes but not limited to:

Provision for Eternal home

Jesus said in John 14: 2-3 in my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. Paul in describing our eternal home said in 2Corinthians 5: 1 for we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Provision for Eternal life

Our heritage is to inherit eternal life. John 3: 15-16 whosoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Our heritage of eternal life lies in Christ Jesus and no other. John 3: 36 says whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God’s wrath.

Believing includes hearing and doing God’s will through Christ Jesus. John 5: 24 says very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life.

Provision for God’s grace

We have God’s grace to ask and receive from him. Jesus said in John 14: 13-14 I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it. From God’s freewill, he answers us. Jesus said in John 15: 16 you did not choose me but I chose you.

For those who do his will, their heritage includes his storehouse. Deuteronomy 28: 12 says the LORD will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. Paul attested in Philippians 4: 19 and my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

God has elevated us as Royals

Ordinarily, we are slaves to Satan redeemed as God’s servants, elevated to friends, then to royals in heaven. Jesus said in John 15: 15 I do not call you servants any longer… but I have called you friends. Jesus elevates us whenever he is pleased with us. 2Timothy 2: 12 says if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us.; if we are faithless, he remains faithful– for he cannot deny himself. If we live rightly, we become one body with Christ Jesus.

1Corinthians 6: 2 says do you not know that the saints will judge the world? James 1: 12 says blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. Revelation 2: 10 says be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 20: 6 said blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection… they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.

Have we accepted God’s chosen heritage for us? Or have we opted for another which leads to death? We must accept God’s choice and live.
