Christ Jesus said in Revelation 1: 17-18, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living one. I was dead, see, I am alive forever and ever; I have the keys of Death and of Hades. This personal revelation given to John confirms that he truly died and now he truly lives. No other person can ever live forever. Jesus is alive forever because he said in John 11: 25, “I am the resurrection and the life. His statement, if correctly interpreted, means there is only one resurrection and only one life of which Jesus is both. Therefore, without him, there is no resurrection or life for anyone. What does I am alive mean?
Jesus is the only resurrection
The claim of other resurrections is false. Acts 4: 12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved. Jesus said in John 10:8, all those who came before me are thieves and robbers. Jesus’ statement that he is alive is therefore to warn us not to drift from the faith but hold fast to the faith till he returns as he promised. Philippians 3: 16 says only let us hold fast to what we have attained. Thessalonians 2: 15 says so then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter. In whom do we believe and live for our resurrection when the time comes?
Jesus is the only light of the world
It means Jesus continues to be the light of the world. John described Jesus thus in Revelation 1: 16, his face was like the sun shining with full force. His light epitomizes his glory. He said in John 8: 12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” He also said in John 9: 5, as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” The dead cannot emit light but Jesus continues to emit the light of salvation to the world as the living Saviour. Quenched lights are darkness or dead lights. Jesus asked in Luke 11: 35, consider whether the light in you is not darkness. What is the nature of light in us? Is darkness disguised as light? Or the true light of Christ Jesus?
Jesus is the only way to God
It means Jesus continues to show the way to God. Jesus said in Luke 6: 39, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? Jesus said in John 14: 6 I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus said about the nature of his eternal light in John 1: 5, the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. The light of Christ Jesus prompts us of the dark alleys of life to avoid. David said of the light in Psalms 119: 105, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It is eternal life to the soul which cannot be overshadowed by the darkness of sin which is death to the soul. What lamp guides our feet or lights our path? Galatians 6: 7 says do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow.
Jesus’ glory is forever and ever
Jesus has not vacated the authority in his name because he lives. Philippians 2:9-11, therefore God has exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. He continues to sit at the right hand of God in glory. Jesus said in Matthew 26: 64; Mark 14: 62; Luke 22: 69, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven. Stephen said in Acts 7: 56, “I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Where do we stand in God’s honour?
Jesus is still saving souls
The dead cannot save but the living. Jesus said in Luke 19:10, the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost. Jesus said in John 10:10, I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly. He has thrown the ball into our court now. 1John 1: 9 says if we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Aside from throwing to us a life line, he intercedes for us. Romans 8: 34 says it is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who intercedes for us. Our soul is precious in his sight to save. Therefore, Psalms 116: 15 says, precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful ones. Jesus is alive, are we ready to accept him?
Prayer
