We have given up on Christ Jesus for many reasons. What we expect, when, how and where rather conflict with God’s plan. Isaiah 55:8 says for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord.  We must understand how God works from his divine perspective. Let the Holy Spirit lead us to examine why we should not give up on God and His Son, Christ Jesus our Lord.

God has a plan for us in Christ Jesus

Jeremiah 29 says for I know the plans I have for you, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 1: 5 says before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

God receives thankfulness through Christ Jesus

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says be thankful to God in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Colossians 3: 15 says and let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you have been called in the one body. And be thankful.

God gives eternal life through Christ Jesus

Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Luke 13: 3, 5 say unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

God’s friendship is through Christ Jesus

Hebrews 13: 5 says I will never fail you nor forsake you. Matthew 28:20 says I am with you always, to the close of the age. Psalms 50:15; 91:15 say call upon his name in the day of trouble and he will deliver you and honour you.

God’s grace is sufficient through Christ Jesus

2 Corinthians 12:9 says my grace is sufficient for you and my strength is perfected in your weakness. Luke 12: 11-12, says and when thy bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.

God make us alive through Christ Jesus

John 11: 25-26 say I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live and whoever lives in me shall never die. Do you believe this? Revelation 1: 18 says I die, and behold I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

God’s judge for us is Christ Jesus

John 12:48 says he who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. John 5:22 says the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son.

God and Christ Jesus know our lives

Psalms 12:14 says the Lord who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalms 66: 18 says  if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Psalms 9: 8 says he judges the world with righteousness, he judges the peoples with equity.

God’s image is Christ Jesus

John 10:30 says I and the Father are one. Also John 14:9 says he who has seen me has seen the Father. John 17: 22 says the glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me.

Christ Jesus is God’s glorified Son

Revelation 5: 12 says worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing. Revelation 5: 13 says to him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might for ever and ever.

God’s covenant is by Christ Jesus’ blood

Matthew 26: 28; Mark 14: 24 says for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 7: 22 says this makes Jesus the surety of a better covenant.  Hebrews 8: 6 says Christ has obtained a ministry which is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better premises.

God has engaged us through Christ Jesus

Isaiah 43: 1 says I have called you by name, you are mine. Also Colossians 3:3 says for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Matthew 12: 36 says I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter.

God’s care has no end in Christ Jesus

Jeremiah 29:12 says then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. Also Joel 2:32 says and it shall come to pass that all who call upon the name of the LORD shall be delivered. Matthew 11:28 says cast your burden on me for I care.

God has Christ Jesus as our advocate

1 John 2:1 says we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. Romans 8: 34 says is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?

Let us be guided by what God said in 2 Chronicles 13: 12 says O sons of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your fathers, for you cannot succeed. Also, Romans 14: 11 says as I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.

Prayer

Dear Lord, we are deceived by our successes and frustrations to abandon you. We agree with scripture that we cannot fight you and win. We submit to you at this hour for forgiveness of our excesses. As our creator without whom was made what was created, create us anew in spirit by the Holy Spirit to return to you where we belong. We plead in your holy name, hear us O Lord, Amen!!
