THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE!

God is our fountain of life. The fountain of life gives life and refreshes life. God is the true source of life in order to have its refreshing effects. In our world today, there are many claims to the fountain of life. To some there are other fountains of life including themselves. Where can we find the true fountain?

The fountain is with God

John 1: 4 says in him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the light of all people. We also read from Psalms 36: 9, for with you (God) is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. God is the only true fountain of life. Except in him, we have no life nor its freshness. Proverbs 14: 27 says the fear of the LORD is the fountain of life, so that one may avoid the snares of death. The fountain gives eternal life.

The fountain is with God’s righteous

God has ordained the mouth of the righteous as his fountain of life. They can pronounce life and speak freshness to life. Proverbs 10: 11 says the mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. Death can also come from their mouths. Those anointed by God must be careful of what comes out of our mouths. James 3: 10 says from the same mouth come blessing and cursing. Lamentations 3: 38 says is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come? The mouth of the righteous must bless and heal.

The fountain is with the wise in God

The teaching of the wise is also a fountain of life. The counsel of the wise enables us to escape or avoid foolish death. Proverbs 13: 14 says the teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, so that one may avoid the snares of death. In our world today, we do not apply wisdom but foolish pride. Proverbs 16: 22 says wisdom is a fountain of life to one who has it. Many souls are perishing for lack of wisdom in God. We can gain life with wisdom in Christ Jesus.

The fountain is with Christ Jesus

Jesus said at the Jacob’s well to the Samaritan woman in John 4: 10-14 “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”… but those who drink of the water that I give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”  Only Jesus gives eternal life because he is the fountain of life. Whoever needs life must return to Christ Jesus.

How can we find Jesus the fountain?

Revelation 7: 17 says for the Lamb (Jesus)… will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Without Jesus, we are sure to miss the fountain of life and end in tears. Jesus said in Revelation 21: 6 I will give water as a gift from the springs of water of life. Only Jesus knows the way to life for he said in John 14: 6 I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 

We must be careful to have the right guide. Proverbs 14: 12; 16: 25 say there is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death. From only God flows the fountain. Revelation 22:1 says then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. John 6: 35 says whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 

Is the fountain of life flowing through us by God’s channels? If not, life will soon become extinct. Be refreshed with a new lease of life from the fountain of Jesus.   

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, we confess that we are withering without your freshness of life. We are unable to bear fruits in and out of season as you require of us. Help us to drink from your fountain of life so we may be thirsty no more. We pray in your holy name, Amen!!
